While moving to your new home, you should feel excited and comfortable about your shifting. There should not be any stress or trouble after shifting to your new house. Before you shift your household belongings from your old to new home, there are many important things you should take care on.
Below mentioned are the essential points to take care on, when moving your things to your new home.
· The first essential thing you should take care about is, the preparation of paperwork. Attain all the required legal documents like power of attorney, commencement certificate, development agreement, possession letter, payment receipts, etc, stamped and signed. Some documents can be attained through online and some from the related departments directly.
· Pay your bills to the concerned departments and don’t forget to pay your remaining dues to your personal helpers like gardeners, housekeepers, plumbers, electricians, etc,.
· Update your contact and address details to your friends, family and other people whom you feel important in your life. Also update these details for your business or official purposes. Don’t forget to send notifications to your local government bodies such as gas, water, electricity, telephone, ration, bank, electoral, insurance and postal departments.
· Get a new gas or update your old one by submitting the required documents and the address information with your gas agency.
· Get a new internet connection at least a week before your shifting day, to make things happen faster and to avoid getting bored when you are alone.
· Call a pest control service to protect your home and kids pests, before moving to your new home.
· Take your essentials such as towels, changing clothes, toiletries, tooth brushes, tea or coffee makers, along with you in a box packed to spend your first day without any trouble.
· Take care about your kids and pets by calling your relatives or friends to home while shifting.
· Change the external door locks of your new house to avoid security breach, as your previous owner or maintenance person may have your same set of keys with them.
· Install closet holders and shelves to store some of your utilities, whenever you need.
· Replace old switch boards and other devices to look ultra-bright by cleaning them yourself or by calling outside electrical services.
· Service your mechanical equipment like air-conditioners, coolers, heaters, fan, etc, to improve their life and functionality.
· Paint your home to look clean and attractive by applying a couple of coats on all your walls and ceilings. If possible prep and block the holes by yourself or call outside painting services.
· Clean your new house once again after completing all the above mentioned responsibilities. If you are cleaning yourself, get these items like brooms, vacuum cleaners, floor cleaners, buckets, brushes, etc,. But, don’t forget to wear a pair of rubber gloves while cleaning.
· Don’t forget to get an insurance for your new house and belongings. Get a goods insurance when you move to a rented house or get a structural insurance when you buy a new home.
